A new update to the WhatsApp messaging app lets users send stickers in their chats.
The Facebook-owned application declared the new feature in its blog on Saturday, October 27, 2018. New WhatsApp stickers will roll out to Android as well as iOS users in the coming days. You can try it out on WhatsApp beta if you are an impatient user.
WhatsApp in a blog post said “from emoji and camera features to status and animated GIFs, we’re always looking to add new features that make communicating with friends and family on WhatsApp easy and fun. Today, we’re excited to introduce a new way for people to express themselves with stickers.”
Users will be able to pick from a variety of stickers, which include an illustration of a smiling teacup and a crying broken heart, by tapping the new sticker button in their app and selecting the sticker they would like to share in their chats. Android users will need to get the 2.18.329 version of WhatsApp and iPhone users have to update the app to version 2.18.100, reports said.
WhatsApp also wrote that they will launch sticker packs created by their own designers as well as a selection by other artists. A third-party sticker pack support has also been added to the app to allow designers and developers from around the world to create their own stickers, the blog said.
For those who haven’t yet 🙂
If you wish to skip the queue and get your hands on this feature before your friends, you can sign up to be a WhatsApp Beta user by clicking here. WhatsApp beta allows you to use upcoming features before they hit the stable version. You have to keep in mind that it is an unstable version, so you might see a few bugs every now and then.
Once you’ve updated WhatsApp, you can find the stickers icon right next to the emoji and GIF icons in the emoji menu. You are then greeted with three tabs—one with your recent stickers, second with your favorites and the third containing all the stickers. There’s also a “plus” icon in the corner that allows you to add more stickers to WhatsApp via a sticker store.
